Scuba Classes

Professional Association of Diving Instructors We offer a series of classes to help you get started exploring scuba and the depths. Our classes range from discovering and introduction to mastering the skills required for to become a Dive Master...or take things to the ultimate level and become a certified PADI Instructor.

Open Water Diver
Now is the time to dive into the PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, a dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.

Open Water In our PADI Open Water Diver Course you will experience the excitement and adventure of our underwater world. This Open Water Course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you will need to safely visit the underwater environment. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives. On completion of the open water certification dives you will receive your PADI certification card, which never expires.

But Can I Take It?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. At some point in the course, your PADI Instructor will ask you to demonstrate the ability to swim 200 metres/yards without swim aids or 300 metres/yards with mask, fins and snorkel and complete a bit of paperwork, to get you on your way. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available. Approval from your physician may be required depending on any medical condition you may have.

What Can I Expect When I Come To Class?
The PADI Open Water Course is divided into 5 seperate modules. Each module consists of one chapter in the Open Water Diver Manual, a classroom video presentation with discussion, and a pool session. When you signup for your PADI Open Water class, you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver Book Kit which contains a manual, dive table, logbook and student folder. Each chapter in the manual corresponds to the classroom presentation and pool session you will complete.

Pool Training - Putting It All To Practice You are responsible for reading each chapter before each session begins. At the end of each chapter is a review that you must complete before class.

YOU MUST COME TO CLASS PREPARED!

The classroom section consists of an audio-visual presentation followed by a discussion and a quiz. After the classroom portion you will begin the pool session. In the pool you will perform the skills learned in the class.

The final step to your certification is to complete your Open Water Certification Dives. To become a certified Open Water Diver you must complete four dives in “real water”. These dives are completed in local lakes or quarries and are run from early May thru October. Open Water Dives are conducted in water ranging from 15 to 40 feet. During these dives you will perform the skills you have learned in the pool sessions, and then spend the rest of the dive just having fun. If you are planning a winter vacation and wish to get certified there, you will need a referral form from us.

But How Can I Fit This Into My Busy Schedule?
To meet your needs and busy schedule, we run classes in three different formats:
  • Standard Format - Class is run one evening each week for 5 weeks.
  • Three Week Format - Class is run two evenings each week for 3 weeks.
  • Weekend Class - All 5 classes are completed within a 3 day period. This format may be too accelerated for some people.

WEEKEND FORMAT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!
Check our Online Calendar to find a class that fits into your schedule.

OK, But What Equipment Do I Have To Buy
Open Water - Equipment Standing Ready We will provide you with all the Scuba Equipment that you need for this class (Wetsuit, Regulators, BCD, Tanks & Dive Computer/Gauges). You will need to provide your own mask, snorkel, boots and fins so that they become a natural extension of yourself under the water. During the Open Water dives, you will also need gloves and a hood.

I Can Get College Credit Having This Much Fun?
There is good news for college students interested in getting certified: Now the PADI Open Water Diver course is recommended for college credit(s) by the American Council on Education (ACE). This program meets the educational standards and requirements for credit at the college level, even when taught away from a college or university.
