Professional Instruction
The ACA was founded in 1880 by a group of avid canoeists, and has grown into the USA's largest and most active nonprofit paddle sports organization. Today the ACA is dedicated to promoting canoeing, kayaking, and rafting as wholesome lifetime recreational activities. The ACA accomplishes this mission by providing a variety of worthwhile programs and public services in such areas as: event sponsorship, safety education, instructor certification, waterway stewardship, water trails, paddler's rights and protection, and public information campaigns.

At Divepoint Scuba we offer 2 different kayaking classes, Quick Start Your Kayak and Introduction to Kayaking.
  • Quick Start Your Kayak is a 4 hour workshop designed for the beginner who needs all the basic information on: kayak terminology, loading a boat, launching, basic paddle strokes, potential hazards, and simple rescues. Part of the class is spent on the water. The cost for this workshop is $50 ($70 with kayak rental).
  • Introduction to Kayaking is an 8 hour course designed to teach safety, equipment, launching, terminology, deep water exits and re-entry, kayak over kayak rescues, and basic strokes and maneuvers. Majority of this course is spent in your boat on the water. The cost for this course is $100 ($120 with kayak rental).
The ACA is committed to the safety and enjoyment of all paddlers as well as the greater boating community. The ACA makes every effort to provide the most current safety information available.
If you plan on attending one of our classes, please review our helpful checklist we've put together so you are prepared to have a safe, fun and enjoyable class.

Please contact us at (715) 344-3483 to signup for a class and find available class times.
